STARSHIP TITANIC IS NOW ON STEAM *runs around the room screaming* Couple that with all the Zork games going up plus Planescape: Torment finally hitting, and I honestly think I might pass out from how tight my nostalgia goggles are fitted to my face.

I was compelled to once again google and see if Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri is on the pipeline for Steam and ahahahah, never gonna happen. They decided the secondary service on that one from GOG will be Origin, god fucking damnit. And Origin EA hates having any of their games on Steam because they're assholes.

But still. This coming Summer sale I am getting ALL THE NOSTALGIA.

Other games I'd like to see on steam finally: Oni, that Monty Python game (v unlikely but it was fun!), Dungeon Keeper, the rest of Infocom's catalogue (H2G2! Leather Goddess of Phobos!), Giants Citizen Kabuto.... oh god and just everything else from my childhood? Uuuuuggggggh.

There's a shitload of Sims 3 stuff on there. That's where I got half of the shit I have. (And I have all the expansions 'cept the last one.)

Makes sense in the end. Why send business to your competitor when you know that competitor's going to drain money from you? Even if they don't have any other EA games, Steam is still going to lead people to drops tons of money, just because of the variety of games they have. EA would be shooting themselves in the foot to send people there.

Money is never insignificant to corporations. -laughs- I can guarantee you that at least part of the reason they chose to do all the things they've done regarding Origin and Steam is to keep Steam from getting more money in the long run. It might only be 1% of the reason why they've done things this way, but it's still part of the reason.

I'm not saying it's not a matter of controlling the brand. It's definitely that too. But they also don't want to be introducing people to Steam.

I wasn't arguing. o.O; I'm not sure where this became an argument in your eyes instead of a discussion, which is how I've been seeing it. I apologize for whatever misstep I made to turn it into an argument. That wasn't my intent at all.

For me, argument means "people are fighting and fully believe they're right and aren't willing to back down". A discussion is what we were having. I think it's a difference in nuance?

Thank you for pointing that out. That wasn't what I intended and I'll be more careful in the future.

I love GOG so much for serving my nostalgia!gaming needs (well, most of them, anyway--maybe someday Nintendo will get its act together and make an improved Virtual Console), and I especially really enjoy getting a chance to try classic games I never would have known about the first time around.
